Getting away out of the classroom environment and up here at Mascoka allows us to do a bunch of different activities, co-op game, team games, athletic activities, arts and craft, and it's beyond high school.

It's a great chance for us to take the boys away from school and give them an opportunity to bond together. So they're out of the classroom, they're with different groups of kids, they sleep in the chair of the cabins, eating together at meals, and doing activities they don't get a chance to do in the city. So it makes for a really great outside of school opportunity, but to come together as community.

Some students have never probably left the comforts of Richmond Hill where we're from. So coming up here and trying things like zip-lining, the giant swing, low ropes, just doing those team-building activities that they've maybe not been exposed to, those things we find push kids to push them out of their comfort zone. Some kids, they've been in Canada for three weeks, and this is their first opportunity to really experience what our country has to offer and to step out of their comfort zone and meet new people and hopefully come back with a new sense of confidence. They've tried new things that they've probably never been exposed to before.

It's great in terms of confidence building for our grade nines because so many of them haven't had that opportunity to be away from home, so they have to take responsibility for themselves.

This connects to our curriculum in multiple ways. It just ties in with us getting a positive message across to the boys.

The staff has always been really helpful when we get here for making sure that everything goes as planned and making sure that our boys have the best experience they possibly can.

For the teachers, we have our own beds, we have our own bathrooms. It's very nice. We're well taken care of for volunteering our time.

You don’t have to worry if your entire group will be able to come at the same time. We have space and accommodations for everyone in modern and clean facilities built for groups up to 700.
